Last night–yes, last night–I escorted as shift supervisor at the Falls Church Healthcare Center during 40 Days for Life. It was my first time as supervisor and first time escorting during 40 Days.
On the first day of Passover, I drove a patient home from an abortion clinic amid a crowd of protestors. It’s almost too ironic to write. But that’s never stopped me before! So check out my first piece for The Forward, a Jewish magazine.
Often, lost in the noise of the political struggle to keep abortion safe and legal are the patients themselves who have to navigate complicated TRAP laws, legalese, and financial barriers to receiving care but who are human beings and moral agents like the rest of us, and who deserve a friendly face and sympathetic ear during their medical procedure.
