After a two-day hiatus on the 18th and 19th, the Repro Roundup continues! This was a busy week for abortion news, despite the fact that I refuse to give more airtime to the Barrett confirmation process or this administration’s antics. One of the intentions of these Roundups is to cover news that doesn’t get wide attention. So while there may be repro news dominating the news cycle, there is repro news getting pushed to the side. That’s the news I want to cover. Here’s what I covered this week:
Another week, another boatload of repro news that got buried by the Trump administration’s nonsense. Here’s a list of what you may have missed:
This week was busy in repro news and I managed to post at least once a day on my new Medium column, the Repro Roundup, which is a personal best for me. Here’s the collection of stories from this week:
Part way through the day, I got a lovely message from a Jewish nurse-midwife who runs an independent abortion clinic and is looking for resources for her staff about Judaism and abortion to better serve her patients. She plans on doing the same for more faiths in the future!
Last night–yes, last night–I escorted as shift supervisor at the Falls Church Healthcare Center during 40 Days for Life. It was my first time as supervisor and first time escorting during 40 Days.
My latest Repro Round up honors Rosie Jiménez. Who was the first woman to die from the Hyde Amendment. Read about her life, the Hyde Amendment, and the EACH Woman Act below.
My latest column is up! Give it a read, highlight what you find compelling, clap, and subscribe for updates!
It’s live! I’m so excited to launch the brand-new DAPSN website! DAPSN (DMV Abortion Practical Support Network) provides rides, housing, and companionship/escorts for patients seeking abortion care in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Before today, we had no digital presence whatsoever, so I’m thrilled that we have a place to send volunteers, future volunteers, and patients.
While I am continuing the fight, I want to take a moment to reflect on the impact her legacy has had on me. This post is my collection of memories in honor of RBG.
I’m excited to launch the Repro Roundup, a column on my Medium blog. I summarize abortion news happening around the country, why it matters, and what you can do about it — in 250 words or less.
