This weekend, the Jewish community of Pittsburg became the site of a massacre. Eleven people were slaughtered on Saturday morning, the holiest day of the week, during the bris for a gay couple’s twins.
In the aftermath of the shooting, there has been a constant outpouring of emotion: rage, sadness, fear, love, kindness, faith. From the worst moments that American Jews have ever faced, has come community.
That community came together tonight at Adas Israel Congregation, where nearly 5,000 people attended an interfaith service together. Among the attendees were dozens of clergy of varying faiths.
Below is a video I took of them standing together to sing together, olam chesed yibaneh: we will build this world from love.
