The Jewish Reason to Protect Domestic Violence Survivors Seeking Asylum

I am SO proud of this piece. I wrote this pretty close to when the news broke of Session’s rollback of asylum protections but struggled for weeks to find a place that would publish it. Thank you so much to Jewish Women’s Archive for believing in it! Read it here.

“We cannot forget domestic violence survivors at the border. These women have escaped violence at home against all odds, paying tens of thousands of dollars to smugglers to reach the U.S.-Mexico border, only to be victimized once again by brutal separation policies and harsh new restrictions on granting asylum.”
